Homage to Catalonia wasn't supposed to be more than a few songs on a
split EP that never happened, played on a borrowed guitar. Following
the late night that produced the demos for that record, much changed.
On a steady regiment of black tea, and with the same borrowed guitar,
singer/songwriter Kadd Stephens (ex-Midvale) dragged himself and
occasionally a few friends (borrowing members from such DC hopefuls as Del Cielo and 1905) up and down the east coast of the US several times over in just a few months... Breaking everything from strings to chairs, and turning reflections on life and resistance into chilling chords and anguished screams that make one's hair stand on end. Meanwhile, songs that were often recorded on tape recorders wound up on compilations next to everyone from Chumbawamba to Thursday to Noam Chomsky.
With a full length album (on Status Recordings), two split 7"s, and a European/South American EP release -- along with a tour history that
could make your head hurt, Kadd is once again at it. The new EP,
"Squandered by a jury of piss poor pokerfaces" will be followed by a new full length on Exotic Fever Records, and likely yet another masochistic round of tours, not to be missed.
