While the outward appearance of this band was changing over the last years, two things remained the same. First - nomen est omen - Robert was, is and will be the main creative force behind Rob And The Pinhole Stars. He writes and records the songs and not only does he play the strings, he pulls them, too. Second, the music of Rob And The Pinhole Stars was, is and will be driven by the urge of expression, by emotion and honesty.
When Robert's former band, Pilots in Paris, split up in 1998, he decided to continue writing songs. Without thinking about where to use or play them, just for the sake of the song and to have a creative outlet.
As his vision matured and the songs got stronger, the time seemed right to begin writing on his first album. Now this album is finished. And it is, without the slightest doubt, the biggest stepping-stone in his creative progression.
One day Daniel of the SNC-Empire approached him with the idea of recording a split-single with Tom Lomacchio. It was the first release under the moniker of Rob And The Pinhole Stars. He went on tour together with The Jukebox Scenario and above that played shows with Karate, Engine Down, The Appleseed Cast, The Robocop Kraus, The Tess Wiley Orchestra and others. He as well focused on writing more songs and put a handful of them on a self-released split 10" with Rangelife.
Robert also began to play live-shows again. First in old school singer-songwriter-fashion - just one man and his acoustic guitar. Later he asked friends and fellow musicians to perform the songs with him as a band.
For the recordings he teamed up with Kai, who already contributed his programming skills earlier on, but from now on is the second steady member in the band. Apart from guest-appearances it will be those two guys writing music and sharing a stage to perform it. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is definitely not to be missed!
